Hamburg-Harburg Cable Car

Project description

The feasibility of a cableway as a supplementary mobility service to the existing local transport service is to be investigated as part of the development of an industrial park.

The cableway is primarily intended for commuters and students of the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. Especially for commuters, the cableway in combination with P+R services represents a useful extension of the public transport service. For the residents living in the catchment area of the individual stations, the cableway offers an additional public transport service. The selected linking of the target destinations with the existing local transport interchanges reduces the spatial barriers between the individual locations and improves accessibility.

The planned urban ropeways are two independent lines, which are designed as Mono-cable Gondola Detachable (MGD) cableways with a length of 2.3 and 3.0 km, a capacity of 1,500 and 1,000 pphpd and 4 or 3 stations.
