Project description<\/h3>\n

The traffic situation in the city of Leonberg is characterized by its location next to two highways. Therefore, car traffic is dominant in large areas of the city. The roads are relatively well developed, especially in the south of the city. Nevertheless, congestion occurs in the city center road network at peak times.<\/p>\n

Bus traffic serves and provides access to the old town, \u201cNeuk\u00f6llner\u201d place and the residential and commercial areas. However, it is oriented toward the suburban railway connection at the train station. There are mainly regional railway lines that travel to the city of Leonberg from the city districts and the surrounding towns and communities. This results in partially unattractive public transport connections for inner-city traffic. The existing city center bus lines have not been able to generate adequate demand. In the new concept of bus transport, these deficits are taken into account and the inner-city connections are to be strengthened.<\/p>\n

Since a cableway in Leonberg can only be seen as an integral part of the overall public transport system, initial considerations on possible cableway routes that could replace inner-city bus lines were discussed with the local transport operator.<\/p>\n

After conducting cable car potential analyses for various local transport connections, many of these variants were discarded at an early stage, due to demand and cost considerations. For one potential ropeway line, more detailed planning was performed, but no eligible cost-benefit ratio could be shown for this preferred variant either.<\/p>\n

The following topics were addressed by zatran as part of the feasibility study:<\/p>\n
